Resilient Small Business Network Infrastructure Deployment
Designed and implemented a secure dual-WAN office network infrastructure with centralized firewall management and scalable wireless connectivity.
Implemented: November 2017
Problem
The startup required a reliable and secure network environment capable of supporting day-to-day business operations without internet downtime. The existing requirement demanded improved internet availability, centralized network management, secure traffic control, and scalable wireless access for staff and guest users.
Solution
Implemented a Sophos UTM-based network architecture configured for dual ISP connectivity with WAN load balancing and failover capabilities. The firewall also served as the central DHCP and security gateway, while a Cisco SG300 switch distributed connectivity across multiple wireless access points to provide stable and scalable Wi-Fi coverage throughout the office environment.
Architecture
Two independent internet service providers were connected directly to the Sophos UTM appliance to provide redundancy and traffic balancing. The Sophos firewall handled routing, DHCP services, internet security policies, and traffic management before forwarding connectivity to the core Cisco SG300 switch. Wireless access points connected through the switch distributed network access to end users across the office environment.
Tech Stack
Sophos UTM • Cisco SG300 Switch • Dual ISP Connectivity • Wireless Access Points • DHCP • LAN Switching • WAN Load Balancing
Outcome
Delivered a resilient and centrally managed network infrastructure with improved internet uptime, enhanced network security, simplified administration, and scalable wireless coverage capable of supporting future business growth.
